1. What heroink is

heroink is a personalised-comic generator. You upload a photo and a few details; we produce a digital comic with you (or whoever's in the photo, with their permission) as the hero.

2. Accounts

• · You sign in with Google. You're responsible for your account.
• · You must be 18+ to create an account. Children can appear in comics built by their parent or guardian — they must not be the account holder.
• · One account per person. Don't share credentials.
• · You can delete your account, comics, and uploaded photos at any time from the account menu. Hard-delete is irreversible (GDPR Article 17).

3. Credits & pricing

• · Credits are an internal token used to render pages. £1 = 1 credit at the standard rate; larger packs give bonus credits.
• · Each rendered page costs one credit. A 4-page comic costs 4 credits; larger comics cost less per page (the discount curve is shown at checkout).
• · New accounts receive one free credit on signup.
• · Credits do not expire while your account is active.
• · Goodwill credits granted by us are non-refundable to cash.
• · Prices may change. Existing balances and in-flight orders are honoured at the rate they were purchased at.

5. Photo retention & GDPR

• · Photos you upload are used only to render your comic. They are not sold, shared with third parties, or used to train models.
• · Photos are stored encrypted in our object store attached to your order while the render is in flight and for a short retention window afterwards.
• · Auto-deletion:
  • · 60 days after a comic is finished — photos are wiped automatically.
  • · Immediately if a render fails — your photo is removed in the same operation.
  • · If you have not completed a paid comic within 60 days of upload, the photo is deleted and you will need to start a new comic with a fresh upload. Part-built comics are not refundable at this point.
• · You can delete your account, all comics, and all uploaded photos at any time from the account menu. This is an irreversible hard-delete.
• · Pre-upload content moderation is applied to every photo. Photos flagged by the moderator are rejected and never persisted.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use heroink to create or attempt to create:

• ✕Anyone under 18 in sexual or suggestive contexts. Photos of children are permitted; the surrounding content must remain age-appropriate.
• ✕Real, identifiable people without their consent in sexual, defamatory, or harassing contexts.
• ✕Public figures depicted as saying or doing things they did not, where the intent is to mislead.
• ✕Hate, harassment, or incitement targeting protected groups.
• ✕Graphic violence, gore, or self-harm content. Cartoon mishaps and dark-horror comic tones are fine; instructions for harm or glorification are not.
• ✕Illegal activity presented as instructions. Heists in a story, fine. How-tos, no.
• ✕Resale of generated pages as standalone AI art. Comics produced for personal or gift use; pages may not be stripped out and resold as original work.

We log moderation interventions. Repeat attempts to circumvent our filters will result in account suspension without refund.

7. Ownership & licence

• · You retain ownership of the photos you upload. You grant us a limited licence to process and store them solely for the purpose of generating your comic.
• · You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the comic we produce — print it, gift it, share it.
• · You may not resell generated pages as standalone AI artwork or re-host the comic on commercial platforms without our written permission.

8. AI-generated output

Comics are produced by AI models. Output is generally good but occasionally drifts, refuses, or produces visual oddities. We retry failed pages and provide tools to re-render individual panels, but we do not guarantee a specific artistic outcome.

9. Service availability

heroink is provided on a best-efforts basis. Outages, third-party API failures, and planned maintenance may occur. We do not warrant uninterrupted availability. Where a service failure causes your credits to be consumed without a delivered render, those credits are automatically restored.

10. Termination

• · You may close your account at any time.
• · We may suspend or terminate an account for breach of acceptable use, fraud, chargebacks, or repeated attempts to circumvent moderation.
• · Termination does not entitle you to a refund of credits or completed comics.

11. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability to you for any claim arising from your use of heroink is limited to the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced in-app or by email. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
